FMDesktop Next Version
While there is no "next" release of FMDesktop, there are several things in the works that might be of interest to existing FMDesktop customers and prospects.
Autodesk announced an agreement with FM:Systems to provide support and migration paths to FMDesktop customers. This announcement gives users of the popular FMDesktop application a means of growing to a more robust application at a greatly reduced cost. There are options for free data migration, free software, and even free training.

In addition to the FM:Systems partnership, there is another FM Solution on the horizon. This application will be similar to FMDesktop in its ease of use and will be a web-based application. While we are not currently at liberty to provide all of the details, Contact Us to be made aware when the product is released.
FMDesktop History
FMDesktop first hit the scene as an Applied Spatial Technologies application in the early 2000s. AST generated quite a buzz for the application due to its ease of use and amazing reporting capabilities.
In 2007, Autodesk acquired FMDesktop and began adding their own unique flare to the application. The reporting became even more robust, the labelling became more dynamic, and the integration with other Autodesk products such as Revit became much stronger.
In January of 2009, Autodesk discontinued FMDesktop. Their focus was more on the design applications than on the data management.
In January of 2010, Autodesk announced a strategic patrnership with FM:Systems to provide ongoing support for FMDesktop customers as well as a migration path to their flagship FM:Interact application. The press release can be viewed here.
